Prof. Pradip K Das received his B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Jadavpur University, India. His research interests are in the areas of distributed computing, mobile computing, ad hoc and sensor networks and application of technology for differently abled persons. He is a Life Senior Member of IEEE (USA), a member of the ACM (USA) and Fellow of the IE (India) and IETE (India).
Dr. Das is the Founder Director of the School of Mobile Computing and Communication, a Centre of Excellence at Jadavpur University, created by the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India. He served as a Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jadavpur University. He was a Senior Visiting Fellow in the Department of Computer Science, The Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, where he was involved in post-doctoral research and teaching at the Master’s level. He was a recipient of the prestigious “Technology for Teaching” award in the Asia Pacific and Japan region, instituted by Hewlett Packard, in the year 2006. Dr. Das has been successfully guiding PhD students. So far he has supervised over ten (10) dissertations.
Mr. Sam Biswas completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India.
Mr. Biswas started his career as a Scientific Editor at India Today. Later, he worked in various business domains that include Banking (Wells Fargo, Zurich Bank, Fundacion Bank, Misys & Kindle), Telecommunication (Euristix, Isocor, Fore Systems, General Electric, Marconi Communications), Hospitality (Maloti Indian Cuisne, Feedme/ Foodguru) and Automobiles (cabguru.com, mobocab.com, Aveya, Tiramizoo). Mr. Biswas was also involved with IBM as a Technical Solution Lead. He created and bootstrapped the world’s first automated taxi booking service. He taught stochastic game theory to M-Tech students at Indian Statistical Institute as a visiting scientist (1995-1996). He also taught Quantitative Methods in Marketing & Decision Theory at International Management Institute, New Delhi, India as a visiting faculty (1993-1995). He is passionate about Expressionist Art Forms and Ancient Indian food. Mr. Biswas’s work and contribution to Indian Food Industry was fully covered by leading newspapers like Sunday Times, Sunday Business Post, Irish Independent and Irish Times.
Dr. Chiranjit Acharya has Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Computer Science from Jadavpur University, India. His Ph.D. work was in Machine Learning based Computer Vision.
DDr. Acharya has more than 20 years of industry experience in mathematical modeling, simulation and optimization in the areas of Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Image and Video Processing and Computer Vision. His major industry work includes Sony’s PSX platform SDK, image database of Oracle, video processing and search platform of Cisco’s Telepresence products. Dr. Acharya’s current research interests are in application of machine vision technology in biomedical image and signal processing, development of image and video search engines and development of real time dynamical systems for object tracking and fusion. Dr. Acharya has 15 approved patents in the US.
Mr. Kaustabh Ray earned his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Calcutta and Master’s from IIT, Kanpur, India. He is an expert in python, R, C/C++, Java and various markup languages.
Working primarily in financial domain, Mr. Ray is a software development veteran and a skilled problem-solver with in-depth experience in complete software development life-cycle. He has more than 25 years of programming and domain experience in Information Technology and Investment Banking. Starting his career in IIT, Kharagpur, India, as a Senior Research Assistant, he has worked in many multinational companies in India and Hong Kong. Mr. Kaustabh Ray gained a thorough knowledge of the requirements of the Equity Research desk and has worked as AVP - Equity Technology at Deutsche Bank and as VP-Technology and Promoter at Tathya.com Pvt. Ltd. He developed a CRM platform for a Zurich-based bank that contributed in the evaluation of bank earnings. In 2009, Mr. Ray started his own company that develops programs and algorithms in the domain of Forex Trading and Equity Research.
